Saint-Cloud Park, clearing (1907) by Wassily Kandinsky captures a quiet corner of Paris’s Saint-Cloud with a palette that hums with life. Painted in 1907—just before Kandinsky’s decisive leap into pure abstraction—the scene dissolves a simple park view into lively brushwork and radiant color. Greens and yellows dominate, while small flickers of red and blue animate the surface, revealing an artist intent on using landscape less as a record of place and more as a vessel for mood, rhythm, and visual energy. The work stands at a pivotal moment when Post‑Impressionist color and structure were being reimagined into something far more expressive.

This listing offers a museum-quality fine art print of the painting, produced on your choice of acid‑free archival paper or artist’s cotton canvas. Available in a range of sizes to suit your space, it can be ordered unframed, or expertly framed to arrive ready to hang. The Unique Maps Co. also provides thoughtful personalization—such as a small dedication, titleplate styling, or a preferred border—and customizations like bespoke sizing or color‑calibrated proofs to help you achieve the perfect presentation.

Kandinsky, born in Russia and active across Europe, is widely regarded as a pioneer of abstract art. In the years around 1907 he was steeped in modern currents, absorbing Post‑Impressionist ideas while developing his own language of color and form. He would soon write influentially about the spiritual possibilities of painting and push beyond representation altogether—but here we witness the threshold, where nature becomes the spark for a more subjective, emotive vision.

Saint-Cloud Park, clearing is notable as a transitional work: the subject is a modest park clearing, yet the treatment is radical. Circular and layered marks suggest light dappled through foliage and perhaps glancing across water; the composition feels structured but not constrained, as if the natural world were being gently reorganized into a pattern of sensations. It’s an image of place and atmosphere, but also of transformation—the world as perceived, remembered, and heightened.

Color and surface carry the drama. Varied greens—emerald, moss, and olive—create a deep, cooling field, while warm yellows breathe sunlight through the scene. Quick, tactile strokes build a subtly impastoed texture that catches the eye, and small touches of red and blue serve as sparks and shadows, imbuing the composition with balance and inward glow. The result is a painting that reads beautifully at a distance and rewards close viewing—an ideal print for collectors who value both serenity and visual movement.

A timeless choice for the home or studio, this print makes a thoughtful gift for admirers of modern art, lovers of Parisian landscapes, and anyone who appreciates expressive color—perfect for Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays, housewarmings, or welcoming home someone who’s just returned from Paris.
